South Georgia Motorsports Park No Mercy III
The team of Robert Rodgers and Kirk Hatley certainly was to be reckoned with in Ultimate Street at No Mercy III taking the number one and two qualifying spots
Rodgers set every record in the history of the class, while on his way to recording the win with a stellar 5.07 @ 141 mph.
Great job in setting both ends of the record and a big win this weekend at SGMP.
Huge Congratulations go out to Scott Husted with his win in the highly contested field of heavy hitters in outlaw Drag Radial. Scott ran a string of 4.60 passes capping it off with a new personal best of 4.58 @ 171.21 mph. leaving SGMP with the check and top mph. for the class.
Sean Ashe and team ATF continued their hard work and rapid improvements this weekend in extreme 275 recording a new personal best of 4.68 @ 153 mph. with their F-1X powered Nelson Competition SBF Entry
Congratulations go out to Jimmy Marino driving Craig Keirnan`s beautiful 1968 Camaro. Jimmy recorded the team’s best run to date in his 3rd round match up with the eventual winner Tim Lynch, with a 4.31 @166 mph. run, Incremental numbers were 1.01@ 60ft. 2.82@ 330ft 4.31 @ 166 mph a great run with his Nelson Competition 632!

Congratulations to Phil Smith & Team Midnight, who piloted his 2002 Nelson powered Trans Am to victory over the David Hutnick, in Aeromotive Xtreme Street. The final round saw Smith run a stellar 7.95 at 176 MPH to Hutnick's 8.33 at 173. Phil was also the number one qualifier and is leading the points chase in the Aeromotive Extreme Street class after the two wins this season

In Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W, Eric LaFerraire faced Dave DeMarco in the final with LaFerraire holding off DeMarco in a 6.86 221 MPH win to a slowing 7.95 by DeMarco

First of all thanks goes out to the guys from Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels for their outstanding performance during the past two weeks of tire testing and for their continued race support at the 2012 US Street Nationals held at Bradenton Motorsports Park, Bradenton Florida.
Mickey Thompson is a major sponsor of assorted classes and events around the country. Tom Kundrik (left) and Carl Robinson have been here all week for tire testing and are on hand this weekend observing and helping out the racers.

The team at nelson Competition.
Frank Meshaw had a wild ride this afternoon getting out of shape and winding up in a scary situation on two wheels after the 330 cones. he did a great job on the save, and a lot of good fortune as well. Based out of Palm Bay he and Peg Fratena make as many area events as possible between NMCA events. Lucj went his way in the final against Candido Sanchez who lost traction early in the run allowing Meshaw to drive by. Sponsors and help for the team include TRZ Motorsports, Hank Hill's Hooked up and Gone Race Cars, Chris Nelson from Nelson Competition, Jason Gatlin from ATF Transmissions and Mickey Thompson tires.

Outlaw 632 runner up Mike Schmidt runs out of Sunrise, Florida with his 2002 Camaro and runs a Nelson Competition 632 ci. big block Chevy under the hood. He ran as quick as 4.63 today to get around Eddie Whitlow another Nelson big block in the second round after getting edged out on the tree.

Robert Abbot managed a 4.33 @ 176 with his blown 2002 Camaro in his win over Bryan Markiewicz. Hooked up and Gone Race Cars handles the chassis set up. Robert is the latest threat to 10.5 outlaw racing with a Nelson Competition 540 cuin supercharged Billet Aluminum engine currently tuned by Todd Tutterow

Rodney (Smoke) Campbell set the pace in OL 632 in his first outing with this Camaro owned by Jerry Charles. A Nelson Competition built 632 with three kits from Speedtech provide the record setting power. 4.58 @ 158.20 Low ET Top Speed
Nelson Horsepower seemed to dominate the popular Outlaw 632 class today with a total of six cars qualifing in the full sixteen car field . Five of them in the top eight.

Vero Beach, Florida based Eric Kenward turned it up for the last session as the track came around and recorded his personal best ET with a 4.90 @ 144 to take number onequalifier.Kenward runs full TRZ suspension, a SBC from Nelson Competition and Wilson Pro Flow nitrous. Helping out this weekend is Attilio Derosa and Todd Brash.

Brian Keep is fresh off a win at last weekends Tomato Nationls in Immokallee, Florida. A small fire in the shutdown there burned some of the nitrous plumbing so he is only running one kit this weekend, his 5.11 was good for eleventh on the ladder.

The first annual Nelson Competition Charity Christmas party for the Hope Children’s home located in Tampa was a great success.
Over 150 customers, suppliers, friends, four children and the administrator from hope children’s home gathered at Nelson Competition this past Saturday for the cook out and car show.
The donations consisted of over one hundred toys from bicycles to basketballs and gift cards for the older children.
Mr. John Tatum and the four boys from Hope Children’s Home thanked everyone for attending and for tiding. John went on to say how the gifts were greatly needed during the holiday season for the 63 children from ages 2 to 19 who reside at the Tampa location.

2011 Outlaw Drag Racing Championship Oct.23rd Bradenton Fl. Mike Schmidt the number one qualified in Outlaw 632 worked his way through the field and met up with the Jim Joyce roofing Camaro driven by Eddie Whitlow for the finial. What a race this was as both cars use Nelson Competition Nitrous assisted big block Chevrolets for power. Bradenton FL. October 24 2011 Outlaw Drag Racing Championship
Jesse Violante shown here with engine builder Chris Nelson run OL 10.5 and NMCA Super Street 10.5 W. Jesse ran some 4.30's last weekend at SGMSP before losing the transmission. So this weekend with a borrowed transmission and converter from Billy Adams' Team Midnight Racing the same problem plagued Jesse in the third round of eliminations.
Congratulations go to Jesse and his team for the outstanding effort and all the hard work put forth at the last two races.             Â

Scott qualified # 5 with a 4.691 sec at Bradenton this past weekend Congratulations Scott for the outstanding back to back runner up performances both at SGMSP on 10-16-2011 and at BMSP on 10-23-2011

Nelson competition employee Mike Valerio was inducted into the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame this past weekend in Henderson North Carolina. Master of Ceremonies Bret Kepner and Hall of Fame members recognized Iron Mike as one of the pioneers of pro stock drag racing during its evolution from a cross between a super stocker and a modified production race car. They also thanked him for his contributions to the sport of drag racing and the industry. Mike is also reguarded as one of the best innovators and fabricators the performance industry has known and is the founder of Competition Engineering now a Moroso company. At age 66 Iron Mike is still actively crafting new innovative drag racing products as well as a new purpose built XTF Chevy Camaro for the 2012 ADRL season.

NMCA 2010 World Finials Oct 24th
Mike Fratena was the man to beat in the BF Goodrich street radial this
past weekend Oct 24th at the NMCA world street finials held at Gateway
International Raceway near St Louis Mo. On the way to winning this
years championship Fratena`s stellar performance not only produced a
win in the tough Street Radial class, but at the same He also managed
to set a new NMCA et record of 8.544 . Fratina also holds the NMCA MPH
record at 165.44 set earlier this season at Milan Michigan.
Mike relies on Nelson Competition for the power and reliability it
takes to win championships.
Congratulations to Mike and his team for such a great effort.

NMCA 2010 World Finals Oct 24th
Frank Meshaw was able to capture the Mickey Thompson Super Street
10.5
point’s championship by defeating Jimmy Robbins in the semi final with
a 6.818 to a 7.832. Meshaw also holds the currant NMCA mph record at
218.83 set on July 17th 2010 at Joliet IL.
Frank relies on Nelson Competition for the power and reliability it
takes to win championships.
